This course explores the experience of imperialism, decolonization, and globalization in the so-called “Islamic World” through the lens of literature. In addition to a selection of writers from across the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia, we will examine how European and American perceptions of Islamic societies have changed, and failed to change, over the same period. Prerequisites: ENG 203 or any 300-level LIT class Credits: 3
