This course is a survey of various political ideas (Liberalism, Socialism, Nationalism, Marxism), political forms (Democracy, Authoritarianism, Totalitarianism), and political institutions (residential and parliamentary systems; federal and unitary systems).

We will explore the facets of governments and governance at national and international (multilateral) level. Particular attention will be given to International Institutions and their relationship with states, as well as to state-to-state relations .

Attention will also be given , at the start of the course and during the first 4 weeks of class, to questions related to leadership, political parties, interest groups, main concepts and debates in politics.
