This course introduces students to the study of criminology, exploring the causes of crime, different types of criminal behavior, and how societies respond to crime. It covers both traditional and modern criminological theories, examining why people commit crimes and how the law, psychology, and sociology help us understand criminal behavior. Students will also learn about crime prevention, punishment, rehabilitation, and the effectiveness of different justice approaches, including deterrence, restorative justice, and alternatives to incarceration.
