The purpose of this course is to establish a strong foundation of academic reading / listening, critical thinking, and communication skills. This course will also transition the student from the expectations of a rote memorization high-school educational system into the independent learner who understands and can fulfill the educational expectations needed to succeed in an American university system. To this end, academic success skills such as making and using study guides, organizing time and materials, operating relevant technologies/software, and test-taking strategies will be introduced.
