This course is meant to introduce students with computer science basic principles, and to provide 
them with Information Communication Technology skills. The course emphasizes the 
importance of digital literacy in higher education institutions. It starts by giving background 
information about hardware and software components, the different generations, and the 
organization and architecture of computer system. The topics also include the internet 
applications, digital security and data protection, the most common security threats, as well as 
learning to use the most popular office application software. This course is offered to all AUIS 
students and no prior computer background is assumed.
