This course critically examines the Eurocentric foundations of International Relations (IR) and explores alternative perspectives from the Global South, postcolonial studies, decolonial thought, and non-Western intellectual traditions. Students investigate how colonialism, imperialism, race, and power have shaped the development of the discipline and continue to influence contemporary global politics. Through engagement with diverse scholars and case studies, students will analyze the limitations of mainstream IR theories and explore efforts to create a more inclusive and pluralistic understanding of international relations.
