This course will cover the basic surgical principles in the diagnosis and treatment of various conditions. The concentration will be on surgical conditions commonly met in the field of Dentistry. This will include surgery for the brain, spine, orthopedics, trauma, burns, plastic surgery, and pediatric surgery. Students will be provided with the knowledge and skills necessary to take history from patients, clinically examine and check their vital signs, disinfection and sterilization, fluid and electrolyte, blood transfusion, shock and principle of preoperative preparation will be taught. Furthermore, students will practice the above topics in the general hospital and take part in some preoperative surgical procedures.
